Overlooked and Underfunded New insights from the Centre for Social Justice reveal that 85% of charitable income in England and Wales goes to the top 4% of charities, leaving smaller charities underfunded. Over half of those applying for our Love Norfolk funding had incomes under £25,000, showing that demand is high for small charities, but finding funding is challenging. Norfolk’s Pressing Needs Our response funding highlights urgent grassroots needs: high demand for food support, social connections to combat loneliness, and concerns about fuel support and affordable school uniforms this autumn as household budgets are stretched. Grant Data Shows Gaps Focusing on essential services has led to gaps in areas like community spaces and playing fields, crucial for our communities. Over 40% of young people prioritise better clubs and outdoor spaces, according to Youth Advisory Board findings. Desire for Development Despite challenges, many charities want to expand their expertise in fundraising and HR. While some funding programs create competition, recent network meet-ups show a strong desire for collaboration and mutual support among organisations. |
