We have received notification from NCC that the road though Top Row will be closed from 15 January to 18 February. This is to enable work to replace the water main through Top Row to go ahead.

As yet we do not know precisely what this means for residents in Top Row and will seek clarification in the next few days. Will Top Row residents make sure they and their neighbours are aware of this planned closure.

Many Ashwellthorpe Road residents will be well aware that their telephone and broadband service has been curtailed courtesy of the severing of the telephone lines by Anglian Water’s contractors. A swarm of OpenReach and BT vans have delivered personnel to reconnect the cable ends and restore the lost service.

Whilst this progresses, OpenReach invite you to let them know if your service has degraded or completely lost. Contact details are on the BT webpages.

Don’t forget that in the interim the Village Hall has a high-speed service which you can use. You don’t have to enter the Hall, just pick up one of three sets of signals (all the names start with “TP-Link”) and log into the broadband.

NCC is holding a series of roadshows to talk to residents, community groups and stakeholders about what lies ahead for Norfolk and the role of the County Council. They want to hear ideas and aspirations for Norfolk.

The first will be in Matishall on Tuesday, 7 November 2017, from 7pm to 9pm. The venue is the Enterprise Suite, South Green Business Park Enterprise Centre, Mattishall, Dereham, NR20 3JY.

The Leader of Norfolk County Council, Cliff Jordan, will be joined by county councillors and the Managing Director, Wendy Thomson. Nick Conrad, BBC Radio Norfolk presenter, will act as chairman and take questions from the audience.

 Book your place here.

We have received a request to publicise the work of a Charity, Solo Housing, within the South Norfolk. Solo Housing is a charity supporting the single, homeless in East Anglia, based in Diss, and is funded by South Norfolk Council.

Their aim is to help by providing accommodation from their Register of Landlords and Landladies.  This accommodation is predominantly ‘lodgings’ – their own room with shared use of the rest of the property.  They also offer advice and support to both the client and landlord/lady throughout the placement, if required.

There is a constant demand for this type of rented accommodation as ‘lodgings’ are affordable by those on low incomes.  This means, of course, that there is an ongoing necessity to recruit new providers.

The contact is Sarah Forder, Homelessness Prevention Officer, and details are in the leaflet linked to above.
