An extra meeting of the Parish Council has been arranged to discuss the response to the application for 5 houses on the field at the junction of Hethel Road & Church Road. Public are welcome. Mobile Library Schedule More information at www.libraries.norfolk.gov.uk Come and meet your neighbours, old and new. Following the wetness we have rescheduled the practise test-pit digging session to 7pm on 7th August. Meet on the playing field opposite the School and Village Hall. Bring a spade, trowel and hefty boots! If anyone has an old garden sieve or two, you will find them handy too. I will take you through the art of effective archaeological digging (for beginners!) ready for your own investigation in August. Please send me, Steve Hickling (steve.hicklin@norfolk.gov.uk), your email address if you wish to take part. No experience is necessary. The Community Test-Pitting itself will take place on 11th and 12th August (there will be another chance later if you can’t do this date) at a site of your choice around the village - if not your land/garden do make sure the owners has given permission to dig...! Please send me, Steve Hickling (steve.hicklin@norfolk.gov.uk), your email address if you wish to take part. No experience is necessary. A planning application is to be considered at an extra meeting: As ever, our meetings are open to the public who are invited to express their views on agenda items. Come and meet your neighbours, old and new. Our project was reported again in EDP and Evening News. The last test pits of the 2018 season will be dug on Saturday. We have one on the corner of Wymondham Rd and Ashwellthorpe Rd and we will reopen and hopefully finish the one we started in the playing-field. Meet at 10am at Pear Tree Farm, Wymondham Rd and we will split into two teams to tackle the two pits. We also have the finds from the last test-pits to wash and Keith at Pear Tree Farm has volunteered his garden as a base for the day, so people can do that there (if anyone has a spare tooth brush and washing-up bowl, they may be useful!). Depending on how many people are interested, we will have another barbeque afterwards, either at the village hall as before, or at Pear Tree Farm. Please let me know whether you will take part on Saturday and whether you want to come to the barbeque, as soon as possible. If enough people are interested in the barbeque I will try to open up the village hall bar again. The summer holidays may be over but the weather is still good and there’s time for one last barbecue! Come and celebrate the opening of the village’s newly refurbished bar! Free burger for everyone (first come first served). Families welcome. Bar with wines, spirits, soft drinks and some great real ales open until 11pm. All welcome, whether you visit every week or you’ve never been in before! Come and meet your neighbours, old and new. Our very popular, and always tasty, Curry Night. Bring a curry or make a donation. Come and meet your neighbours, old and new. Our very popular Fireworks Display- not to be missed! The bar will be open from 6pm and hot food will be available. The fireworks will be launched at 7pm on the playing field opposite the hall. Vehicle access to the village hall along Mill Lane will be restricted from 6.30pm until approx 8pm. Please help us cover the cost of the fireworks by donating £5 per family or £2 per person. Here's a quick version (58 seconds) of one we held before! Wreningham village history group's first meeting and will welcome anyone with interested in local and village history. This year's service will mark the day, 100 years ago, when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War. The Remembrance Service commences at the Church at 10.50 am on Sunday, 11th November. The names of the fallen will be read out, followed by a silence at 11am to remember the dead from all conflicts but especially those of WW1. There will be a wreath laid on behalf of the village at the war memorial. Luke Keegan and Donna Caballero Reyes have sent the South Norfolk Help Hub Newsletter for your information.
