Third meeting of The Farthings Community Group
This meeting is about putting more meat on the features put forward from the last meeting – such as scale, location, relative placement, initial priority, possible implications for the draft S106.
Objectives:
1. Agree size, shape and location of each feature on the project list and plot on the plan.
2. Determine best route of paths through the space and to/around features.
3. Review options (if any); draft priorities for features
4. Consider specifications – (a) general; (b) S106 specific
Next meeting 28th October
Overall objective for the series of meetings: To understand and plan for the community’s ownership and use of The Farthings. They will ensure that the S106 will be sufficient to underpin and allow this work to happen.
Meeting #1 (8/10/24) explained the background, current position and reason for calling the meetings. It invited attendees to consider the what they’d like to happen on The Farthings. This would identify an initial list of projects for The Farthings.

Objective: Review consolidated inputs/ideas submitted following from meeting #1.

– probables – are workable, and with characteristics fitting The Farthings
– possibles – need further work – not quite a match for The Farthings

– sorry-but-no – with difficult characteristics / no benefit

A chance to stock up the garden now that autumn planting time is here. There is likely to be a good selection of perennial plants and shrubs. This event includes “Table top” stalls, garden sundries and plant pots, and refreshments.

The Farthings is nearer to becoming Community Owned Land. The planning application is to be considered in August. So, we should start thinking about how we can deliver the hoped for community and environmental benefits.
You are invited to the meeting to help start the design and to plan for creating a community asset for us all to enjoy.
