This afternoon, a villager had spotted a fire beside the pump house on Mill Lane and advised me. I visited the site and took the picture below.

Beside the ash of the original fire there is a pile of cuttings and laural leaves. It seems that some garden refuse is being disposed by casually setting it on fire and leaving it to burn. The fire had burnt grass and scorched some of the screening bushes beside the pump house. Fortunately it had gone out before more damage could be done.
From the volume, it seems to me that a car boot or a single wheelie bin was used to bring the material to the site.
Please be aware of any unusual behaviour in or around the village and inform the police if necessary.
