The Parish Council received a report about the safety of the playing field and its equipment. Amongst other aspects it drew attention to current and potential issues with trees around the site. After consultation with a tree specialist, about the trees on the Mill Lane side of the field, we have decided to remove the two largest fir trees, reduce the height to 5m of several others, and remove a dying Ash tree. We will also arrange to cut back the branches overhanging some equipment on the east side of the field.
This work will commence on 21st July and continue for 3 to 4 days. The contractor will be taking suitable precautions to ensure field users are warned and kept away from the work areas.
We will be responding to other issues raised in the report in due course and will post further information on this site when it is available.
