Following a spate of criminal activity in the village, members of the Village Hall Committee and the Parish Council met with parishioners and a member of the Police Community Team, PC James Smith. We were concerned to ensure the Police were briefed on the situation in Wreningham.
PC Smith explained that the Police are aware of some incidents and have taken relevant policing action. However, he emphasised without sufficient information and evidence Police action will be less effective in tackling criminal behaviour in the local area. So he encourages parishioners to contact him with such information as soon as they are aware of something untoward. He also cautions about taking unnecessary risks and not to approach unfamiliar individuals.
His contact details are:
- mobile: 07773 597 688
- email: james.smith2@norfolk.police.uk
- phone: 101
- X: @SouthNorfPolice
You will see on the Village Hall website that Keith O’Neill is organising around the suggestion to encourage parishioners to register for and gain access the newly revised Neighbourhood Watch scheme being organised by the police. Keith can be contacted at Wreninghamneighbourhoodwatch@gmail.com
The flyer below provides contact information via a QR code or you can use the link http://www.ourwatch.org.uk/
PC Smith states the service give you access domestic security advice, an understanding of local crime statistics, and warnings about criminal activity in the area. It is expected to develop further.
