South Norfolk Council is introducing a weekly food waste collection service in two phases: from 27 July 2026 and from 28 September 2026. You can use the postcode checker to confirm your collection start date:

Before collections begin, households will receive a leaflet with further information, along with a kitchen caddy, outdoor food waste bin and liners. This new weekly service can be used for all food waste, including peelings, leftovers, tea bags, coffee grounds, meat, fish and bones. Food waste will be collected on the same day as rubbish and recycling collections, using a separate vehicle.

Collected food waste will be recycled into renewable energy and nutrient-rich fertiliser, helping to create a cleaner, greener South Norfolk.
