Wreningham Heritage Group

The Wreningham Heritage Group was formed on 7th November 2018 to pull together and preserve for future generations the many sources of historical information about our village. Since our inception, we have been gathering growing amounts of oral, written and pictorial information about Wreningham and many of its people.

As well as preserving traditional records, we have been audio recording the memories of village life from the early days of some of our longer-term residents. In October 2021, with a generous grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund we held our first exhibition in the village hall. We followed this by partnering with the Stowmarket based Food Museum by supporting their May 2022 exhibition – also held in our village hall.

The Parish Council kindly supported us with start-up funding.

From the start, it was our ambition to create a comprehensive website. Drawing on our extensive material, our website has recently been launched; take a look here. You might be surprised …

Privacy is our cornerstone. As you will see from our website, we fully protect the privacy of current generations. Our aim is to describe how we got to present times – but only by referencing the achievements of those who are no longer with us.

We continue to invite you to share your ideas and thoughts, and to volunteer to help collect material to build a collection of our village history. Our meetings are open to anyone who would like to know more or to join us as volunteers. Forthcoming meeting dates are advertised in the Wreningham Mardle and shown on our website.
